News10 My Neighborhood ran a week-long sweepstakes contest last week.

We asked our vusers to submit their definition of HOOPLA, and when they did, their names were automatically submitted into a random drawing.  Then, four lucky winners would receive four passes each to Golfland SunSplash.

This dictionary quiz sweepstakes contest was inspired as part of News10's Reading Connects campaign which is all about connecting with our community to help improve the literacy rate.

Well, we received over 90 responses, and some people were thoughtful enough to email us a sentence with the word HOOPA in it.  Here are some examples:

Modesto, Calif. – Excitement is building in the hills as Sonora takes its place in history as part of this year’s AMGEN TOUR of California race.  As the Local Title Partner of Stage 4 Start, Save Mart Supervisor Cori Nobriga, Sonora Store Managers Lynn Patricio and Louie Iberra, plus a host of managers and employees from Sonora, Angels Camp, Jackson, Oakdale, and Turlock have volunteered to provide what we do best….delicious, fresh food.  They will make about 600 box lunches for the AMGEN crew and scores of volunteers. The morning of the race, the Save Mart team will join with their local suppliers, NuCal Foods and Pacific Seafood, to provide “made to order” omelets for those attending the Mayor’s brunch.
