Stanislaus County to honor education employees

STANISLAUS COUNTY - The Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Stanislaus Charter will honor outstanding classified (non-supervisory) education employees in the county through the "Employees Making a Difference" program for the fourth year in a row.

Twenty-six outstanding staff members will be honored at a special reception on Tuesday, Jan. 18 from 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. at the Peterson Event Center, located at 720 12th Street in Modesto.

School districts throughout the county selected their own honorees and forwarded nominations to SCOE.

California ReLeaf announces student poster contest

SACRAMENTO -- California ReLeaf announced today the release of a statewide Arbor Week poster contest for students in third to fifth grades. Students are asked to create original artwork based on the theme “Trees Are Worth It”. Submissions are due to California ReLeaf by February 1, 2011.

In addition to the poster contest rules, educators can download a packet that includes three lesson plans that focus on the value of trees, community benefits of trees, and  jobs in the urban and community forestry field.
