Demonstrating the proliferation of mobile technology into nearly every facet of our lives, more than eight out of 10 home buyers are accessing home information on their smart phones and computer tablets, according to the California Association of Realtors’ (CAR) 2013 Survey of California Home Buyers. This information shouldn’t come as a surprise with 90 percent of media consumption being screen-based. Seems like this “trend” is becoming a lifestyle.

Stockton, Modesto home price increases higher than national rate

Home prices in December in Modesto and Stockton increased year over year at a rate higher than the national average, according to a report released Tuesday by CoreLogic.

"We are heading into 2013 with home prices on the rebound," said Anand Nallathambi, president and CEO of CoreLogic. "The upward trend in home prices in 2012 was broad based with 46 of 50 states registering gains for the year. All signals point to a continued improvement in the fundamentals underpinning the U.S. housing market recovery."

Stanislaus County to release redistricting draft maps Thursday

MODESTO - Stanislaus County officials will release draft maps for public review of possible new County Supervisorial Districts, on Thursday, July 14 at 5 p.m. Officials have held six public meetings and received more than 20 comments in regard to communities of interest and other factors that could influence redistricting that is occurring as a resu;t of the 2010 U.S. Census.

After the public meetings were completed in late June, the Stanislaus County Redistricting Steering Committee together with the Stanislaus County Ad Hoc Citizen Redistricting Advisory Committee, have finished two draft maps for community feedback.

The maps will be posted on the Stanislaus County website at www.stancounty.com/redistricting and can be downloaded for review.

After public comment on July 20, the draft maps will be reviewed and finalized by county officials.

Wells Fargo to host mortgage hardship workshop July 20-21

MODESTO - Wells Fargo & Company  announced Friday it is hosting a free workshop for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, Wells Fargo Financial, Wachovia Mortgage and Wells Fargo Home Equity customers facing financial hardships. The two-day workshop — to which Wells Fargo is inviting thousands of Central Valley homeowners — will take place July 20-21, from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel in the Harvest Hall, located at 1150 Ninth St., in Modesto.

Stanislaus County annual valuation notices available only online

STANISLAUS COUNTY - Stanislaus County Assessor David Cogdill announced Monday that in an effort to improve efficiency and conserve scarce resources, his office will no longer be mailing out annual valuation notices. Effective July 1, 2011, this information will be available on the Assessor’s website: www.stancounty.com/assessor.

Taxpayers will be able to search both by parcel number and by situs address. Those individuals that do not have access to a computer may come into the office at 1010 10th Street, Suite 2400 in Modesto, and use the computer terminals that are available to the public.

The information available on the assessor’s website will include the property location, assessed values, appeal deadlines and stipulation information. The assessed values are determined as of lien date, January 1 each year.

MODESTO - Each year, the City of Modesto receives funding from the federal government for community development as well as emergency shelter and housing activities. In order to set spending priorities, the city's Housing Division prepares a five year plan that is updated every year to identify the housing and community development needs and develop a strategy for addressing those needs in a given fiscal year.

The city anticipates receiving approximately $3 million in funding for Fiscal Year 2011-12 and wants to provide the community with an opportunity to assist with identifying housing and community development needs in Modesto.
