More details emerge in Modesto shooting involving two officers and suspect

Modesto police department released more details on a shooting that left one suspect dead on Thursday, Dec. 17.

Heather Graves, the department's spokesperson, said that at 2:10 p.m. two Modesto officers tried to stop a man on the bike, who fled from them into a parking garage off 10th Street.

When officers approached the suspect, he pulled out a loaded .44 caliber handgun from his waistband and failed to comply with the officers' orders to drop the gun.

Several shots were fired by by both officers, according to Graves. Medical crews performed CPR on the suspect while he was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The suspect was later identified as 24-year-old Christopher Fletcher, who required the highest level of supervision through the Stanislaus County Probation Department, Graves said.

Two Modesto officers involved in shooting, suspect later dies


Modesto Police Department are investigating a shooting between two officers and a suspect who later died from his wounds Thursday afternoon.

According to the Modesto Police Department, around 2 p.m. officers tried to stop a man on a bike near the City Tower parking garage near 10th Street. When approached by officers, the suspect, who was armed with a gun, failed to comply with the officers' orders to drop his weapon.

Several shots were fired by both officers, Modesto police said. 

CPR was performed on the suspect until he was taken by an ambulance to a local hospital where he later died, the department said. 

The officers involved in the shooting were not injured and were placed on paid administrative leave.

Modesto police investigate fatal crash involving multiple vehicles

Modesto police are investigating a fatal traffic collision involving multiple vehicles that happened on Sisk Road Monday afternoon.

The Modesto police department posted two photos of the crash on their Facebook page, but no information was given on what caused the accident or how many vehicles were involved in the wreck.

14-year-old among suspects arrested in connection with Modesto armed robbery


Four suspects have been arrested in Modesto, including a 14-year-old, in connection with an armed robbery that occurred Saturday night.

Modesto Police officers made the arrest after pulling over a car that matched the description of a vehicle believed to have been used in an armed robbery that occurred earlier that evening.

According to police, as officers pulled over the car, one of the four individuals inside ran from the vehicle and was apprehended sometime later, a short distance away.

The three other men inside the car, all Modesto residents, police said, were also arrested.

California Highway Patrol officials report an overturned big rig has stalled traffic moving southbound along Interstate 5, just south of Modesto near Newman.

7 people injured in car accident north of Escalon

Seven people were injured in a car accident involving a semi-truck just north of Escalon on Thursday night.

The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened just after 5 p.m. on Escalon Ballota Road. All seven people were taken to the hospital.

No other information has been released at this time.

Man arrested after stabbing woman several times in the head in Modesto

A woman was listed in critical condition after she was stabbed multiple times in the head and back area Monday morning.

The suspect, 29-year-old Raymond Amador, was arrested and booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for attempted murder, Modesto police spokesperson Heather Graves said.

Graves said that officers responded to a call around 4:45 a.m. from a woman who said her daughter was bleeding and was going to be transported to the emergency.

Gaves said that officers who arrived to the scene learned the the 32-year-old victim had been stabbed multiple times in her head and back area while sitting in Amador's car in front of her residence. The victim managed to escape from the car before Amador fled the area.

The victim underwent emergency surgery at a local hospital, Graves said. Amador was eventually identified and take into custody at a residence in Hughson.
