Serial robbery suspect arrested in Modesto

Modesto Police Department officials are crediting the use of social media in the apprehension of a suspect involved in multiple robberies in and around the Modesto area.

On Tuesday, officers served a search warrant at the Shasta Avenue home of the suspect, Manuel Gonzalez, 35.

Inside the home, officers found a marijuana grow operation and cocaine, according to police. They also found Lorena Cruz, 33, who, according to police, they also arrested on charges of child endangerment, accessory, possession of a controlled substance, and cultivation of marijuana.

During the investigation, Gonzalez was contacted by phone, later surrendering with his attorney to the Modesto Police Department.

Gonzalez was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for six counts of robbery, attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a controlled substance, child endangerment, cultivation of marijuana, and a burglary warrant.
