Laura Scarborough’s blog, Adventures in Juggling, is about a Manteca mom’s life with a husband, five kids, one of which has special needs, three pets and being a RN at the neo-natal intensive care unit, NICU.

“We started in 2005, back then it was a kind of a curiosity.”

Laura started journaling after her son Daniel was born. Daniel was born premature and has autism [CORRECTION: Daniel was born premature and has many struggles related to his extreme premature birth, Laura said in her blog].

After much effort from all sides, it boils down to the Maloofs stating that the Kings will play the next season in Sacramento.

Modesto's Sylvan Elementary School gets Comcast makeover

More than 3,500 local Comcast employees and their families and friends have volunteered to improve 17 schools throughout California that have been affected by budget cuts inlcuding Modesto's Sylvan Elementary School

Throughout California, local elected officials were on hand at the schools as Comcast employees spent the day planting shrubs, repainting walls, building picnic tables and bookshelves, repairing fences, weeding flower beds, power-washing playgrounds, replacing bark and performing landscaping projects at the schools. 

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations across the country on behalf of each employee and family member who volunteered on Comcast Cares Day.  Since its inception in 2001, Comcast employees, their families and friends have dedicated over 2 million hours of service.  The Company has also committed more than $10 million in grants to organizations nationwide.  Comcast Cares Day

Modesto's Renner cameo revealed for summer blockbuster

LAS VEGAS, NV - Modesto-born actor Jeremy Renner will make a cameo appearance in what is expected to be one of the summer's first blockbuster hits.

IGN.com reports that Renner will appear as Hawkeye in the comic book turned film "Thor." That character is an adaptation from the Marvel comic book character of the same name. Renner's appearance is part of a build up to the "The Avengers," next summer's mega comic book movie also featuring Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and the Incredible Hulk.

Renner's inclusion in "Thor" had been kept under wraps until a recent screening of 20 minutes of the film at CinemaCon, a film convention which is put on by The National Association of Theatre Owners.

Homeless cross homeowners in Modesto neighborhood

The La Loma neighborhood can't find a balance between its homes and the homeless. On April 5, the Modesto City Council may consider the La Loma Neighborhood's appeal to block a new building permit for the Modesto Gospel Mission, a non-profit homeless rehab and recovery center. The Mission wants to build a 5,000 sqft. facility for a 12 month residential recovery program.

Since 1993, homeowners off Yosemite Boulevard have both applauded the Modesto Gospel Mission for its effectiveness in getting rehab and educational help for the homeless individuals who want it, and fought the Mission's policies and lack of control over the homeless who don't.
