Buick’s new image shines with the Regal GS

Buick’s new image shines with the Regal GS

To borrow a line from Oldsmobile – “This is not your father’s automobile – certainly would have meaning when referring to the new 2012 Buick Regal GS.

You’ve also heard the marketing term for some new car models as being a “world car.” That certainly would hold true for the new Buick Regal GS.

Born on the famous race track at Nürburgring, this German-built luxury sports sedan has the feel and looks that you would expect to see speeding along Germany’s Autobahn. After all, the Opel factory in Russellsheim has been building production Regals for North America.

2012: Coloring My Life

Dear Diary, I’m a Muggle.

My Hogwarts letter never got lost in the mail. I don’t have a wand, a pet owl, or a dormitory in the most magical castle in the wizarding world. I will always be the Muggle who plays LEGO Harry Potter games and draws lightning bolts on her forehead.

Dear Diary, I’m a commoner.

I never got to be crowned Princess Catherina and become the benevolent princess of a kingdom far, far away. I never rode a carriage to a ball and I’ve never had a fairy godmother. I will always be the dreamer who stares up at the stars and wonders what it is like to be a real princess.

Dear Diary, I never visited Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

Clubbin' It During the SAT by Kimberly Phippen

Clubbin' It During the SAT by Kimberly Phippen

After filling in the answer to number thirteen on the SAT, also known as the Scholastic Assessment Test, I had no way of preparing myself for what I was to face next.

My gaze shifted from my perfectly bubbled answer sheet back to the test booklet. As I scanned the next question, I could not resist the sudden horror stricken, although slightly amused, mien to sweep across my weary face. I re-read the question and decided there was nothing left for me to do, but snicker.

The equation I had just read consisted of expected numbers. There was a five, a two, and maybe a four. However, this question had a variable I had never seen before, a club.

A club, typical in any deck of cards, had no reason to be on my test. In fact, it had no right to be on my test.

I quickly came to the conclusion that the test was meant to trick me. The thing that didn’t come as quickly was the answer.

Dressy September

Dressy September

One of the most basic pieces of advice I hear from folks who work from home is to get dressed for work every day. While that seems easy in theory, the level of dressiness differs from person to person. I've never been a big pajamas person, so I always get dressed, usually in shorts and a tee. But does this minimum make me feel like I'm ready for work? Nope. Sure, I got dressed a few times last week, but for real consistency I need to learn better habits.

They say it takes 21 consecutive days of doing something for it to become a habit. If you can do 21, why not 30? So for the month of September, I'm making an effort to get dressed—really get dressed—every single day. Partly to get into the habit of getting ready for work each morning, but also because I don't think you always need a reason to dress up. Just because is just fine.
