Breastfeeding Coalition presents Mother-Baby Friendly Award Feb. 9

MODESTO - On Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 12 noon, the Breastfeeding Coalition of Stanislaus County will present a Mother-Baby Friendly award to an area employer. The Center for Human Services, located at 1700 McHenry Village, Suite 14, was nominated by an employee for being supportive of breastfeeding mothers. After evaluation by the Coalition it was found they met criteria to receive a Mother Baby Friendly Award.

A Mother-Baby Friendly Workplace provides support to parents who wish to continue to provide breast milk for their baby while working and complies with the 2002 California Lactation Accommodation Law requiring employers to provide unpaid break time and use of a private space, other than a toilet stall, for mothers to express milk during work hours. The Center for Human Services exceeds the minimum requirements by providing education, support, a dedicated location and adequate time for pumping.

Are Facebook Promotions Getting an Update?

Looks like new Facebook Promotions guidelines may soon be released.

According to AllFacebook, an email sent out by Facebook sales representatives outlines the new rules.  In contrast to the old guidelines where promotions needed to be explicitly approved, promotions will no longer need prior written approval from Facebook. Basically, in regards to promotions, sweepstakes and contests on Facebook:

  • They no longer require prior written Facebook approval to administer a promotion on Facebook.

  • They no longer require a minimum media spend investment to support the promotion.

Understanding Facebook Insights: Impressions

A 3fold client called recently and asked for my thoughts on Facebook Insights. After answering his question I thought it might be helpful to breakdown the tool for others. My timing couldn’t be better because just as I sat down to write this post, Facebook announced an improvement to their Insights tool. A new feature measures additional metrics around content. It’s an exciting update that I’ll definitely share with you,  but let’s get to that in a second.

First, if you’re unfamiliar with Facebook Insights, the tool is a great feature included on “Like” pages. (Like pages, or fan pages, are typically used for business marketing). I always recommend companies and nonprofits build a Like page because of all the capabilities that come with it, including Insights.

It Pays to Pay: Brands Using Social Media

Fact: follower, friends and fans are fickle. At least according to a recent study.

Most consumers are now online in one way or another. New media adoption in the last year has risen by more than 48 percent. And, where customers go, brands follow. But creating a social media presence is easier said than done. The competition for followers is getting fierce, requiring brands to do more for their audiences than merely show up…they have to poney up.

Loyal followers have become the holy grail in social media settings. While they still enjoy expressing their affinity on the web–liking on Facebook, following on Twitter, and subscribing on RSS or by email–the average user embraces only 4.6 companies online.
